As Mike Pouncey and Dan Feeney are set to enter free agency, the center position could be a major need for the Chargers.
Los Angeles could elect to re-sign one, which would likely be Feeney over Pouncey. However, the team may see this as a prime opportunity to start fresh.
It just so happens that a player like former Oklahoma center Creed Humphrey would solidify the spot.

Oklahoma’s Creed Humphrey could be a potential replacement on the inside of the offensive line. A three-year starting center for the Sooners, he has been a part of some of the most explosive offenses in college football the past few seasons.
Humphrey is a decisive blocker and attacks his assignments with good aggressiveness. While he’s not an exceptional athlete and doesn’t have the play speed to be a reliable puller on certain power-run concepts at the next level, his intelligence and play strength will make him a suitable NFL center.

Humphrey, the left-handed center, started the final 26 games of his career, earning Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year honors for the second time this season. The 6-foot-5, 320-pounder earned second-team AP All-America honors in 2019.
In 1,297 pass-blocking snaps, Humphrey only allowed 28 quarterback pressures and zero sacks.
Down in Mobile, AL at the Senior Bowl where I spent the week, Humphrey was arguably one of the better lineman.
Humphrey isn’t the most athletic lineman, but toughness, intelligence, instincts and consistency in pass protection and the run-blocking department are starter quality at center.
