Chargers not among teams interested in DT Gerald McCoy

It looks like the Chargers are not going to be adding another defensive tackle to the roster. Los Angeles was among the teams listed that are showing interest in free agent defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, according to ESPN’s Jenna Laine.

After the release of McCoy, ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted out that he saw the Bolts as a potential suitor for the former All-Pro defensive tackle but it didn’t necessarily mean they were showing interest. He threw it out there, as he knew they could benefit from adding more beef up front.

The tweet had most fans and experts believing that Los Angeles would look to add the valuable player to the interior part of the defensive line by going after McCoy.

Whether that be the salary cap situation or that the team is simply comfortable with the group they have right now, it doesn’t appear to be that way after seeing the teams that have the most interest in McCoy.

L.A. did some remodeling to the defensive line by drafting Jerry Tillery, Cortez Broughton and re-signing Brandon Mebane and Damion Square. On paper, the group looks better than it has in years and they have quality depth, as they also have Justin Jones entering his second season.
