Chargers mock draft roundup: Who experts are projecting 1 week out

The NFL draft is one week away, and there still isn’t a great consensus of how the draft will go.

The Chargers will select No. 28 overall, but there’s always the chance they will trade up, or down. In terms of needs, it seems like offensive tackle, defensive tackle, free safety and cornerback are at the top of the list, although, you never know when general manager Tom Telesco is running the show.

Here’s who the experts have Los Angeles selecting with their first round pick.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper: CB Rock Ya-Sin, Temple

“The Chargers like slot corner Desmond King, but the other spot opposite Casey Hayward could be upgraded with Ya-Sin,” Kiper says.

ESPN’s Todd McShay: OT Cody Ford, Oklahoma

“I’d like to get the Bolts someone in the middle of that defensive line, but the offensive side is equally in need. Ford, who played both guard and tackle at OU, has some versatility,” McShay says.

NFL Media’s Charlie Casserly: QB Daniel Jones, Duke

“The Chargers find Philip Rivers’ heir by selecting the most pro-ready quarterback prospect in the 2019 draft class,” Casserly says.

NFL Media’s Daniel Jeremiah: CB Rock Ya-Sin, Temple

“There are other needs here — safety and defensive tackle among them — but it was apparent that the Bolts need to add some talent on the outside based on their performance against the Patriots in the Divisional Round of last season’s playoffs,” Jeremiah says.

CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson: OL Chris Lindstrom, Boston College

“Lindstrom, one of the best offensive linemen in this class, is coming off a strong season for the Eagles and he would be a huge upgrade along the interior line for the Chargers,” Wilson says.

CBS Sports’ Will Brinson: CB Greedy Williams, LSU

“This is a deep secondary, but they can add even more talent. Linebacker is a bigger need, but they can’t reach in this spot,” Brinson says.

CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso: DT Jerry Tillery, Notre Dame

“One of my favorite prospect-team pairings in the first round. Tillery could feast in the middle right away playing between Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram,” Trapasso says.

Rotoworld’s Mark Lindquist: WR Hakeem Butler, Iowa State
