Chargers’ Michael Badgley downgraded to doubtful for Week 1

Chargers kicker Michael Badgley has officially been downgraded to doubtful for the 2019 regular season opener against the Colts on Sunday.

Badgley suffered a groin injury during practice on Friday. He was originally listed as questionable on the final injury report, but it appears that the injury hasn’t healed in that short amount of time and they aren’t going to risk making it worse.

With Badgley unable go this weekend, punter Ty Long will handle both the punting and kicking duties. Long is very familiar with the role as a kicker, as he did the past two years when he played with the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL).

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor will handle the holding duties in Long’s place.
