Chargers LB fined for hit that injured Bengals WR Tee Higgins

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins briefly left his team’s loss against the Los Angeles Chargers last week after a brutal-looking horsecollar tackle by a defender.

Said defender was Chargers linebacker Chris Rumph II and a week later, the NFL announced he’d been fined $4,713 for the tackle.

Rumph, a fourth-round rookie getting a big opportunity with Kyler Fackrell on IR and Joey Bosa leaving the game early with an injury, made the play late in the game.

Higgins eventually returned and led the Bengals in receiving with 138 yards and a score on nine catches. But he spent the week leading up to this weekend’s game against the 49ers practicing sparingly before getting a “questionable” tag.
