Chargers’ Keenan Allen resisted Melvin Ingram from re-entering game

Defensive end Melvin Ingram suffered a hamstring injury in the second quarter of the Chargers’ 30-10 victory over the Dolphins.

Ingram stood on the sideline wearing a hoodie, eager to re-enter the game. But wide receiver Keenan Allen held back Ingram’s temptation to get back out on the field.

“Take your time. We got a long (season). Still got 12 weeks left. We’re gonna need you. Chill out. Take it easy,” Allen told Ingram, per Orange County Register’s Gilbert Manzano.

Allen knew that Los Angeles couldn’t afford for Ingram to risk worsening the hamstring injury. It wasn’t worth it, especially after the team has been belittled with injuries to their players all across the board.

Despite being hurt, Ingram’s itch to get back on the playing field came as no surprise. The former South Carolina product is a tough player and will play through anything, and he simply just wanted to join in on the fun that his teammates were having by terrorizing Miami’s offense.

The Chargers defense went on to sack quarterback Josh Rosen four times and were bringing the heat the majority of the second half.

Coach Anthony Lynn said that Ingram pulled his hamstring and he doesn’t know how long he will be out.
