Chargers great LaDainian Tomlinson sells his lakefront home in Texas

Oct. 21--Former San Diego Chargers tailback LaDainian Tomlinson has sold his waterfront home in Lakeway, an exurb of Austin, Texas, for $1.46 million.

Fronting Lake Travis on more than half an acre, the three-bedroom home is entered through a step-down entry that opens to a family room and an adjacent dining room. Walls of windows underscored by vaulted ceilings take in wide views of the surrounding body of water.

Two floors of living done in dark wood floors and wrought-iron details include a chef's kitchen with a wide center island, a breakfast room, a loft/office and a bonus room with a separate entrance. A lower-level game room sports two flat-screen televisions and a wet bar.

The master suite has a vertical spa shower and a soaking tub for a total of three bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms in 4,274 square feet of space.

Outdoors, a large covered patio overlooks a swimming pool with a raised spa and a waterfall feature. A lake-view balcony extends off the second story.

Tomlinson bought the house in 2007, public records show.

Kofi Natei Nartey of The Agency and Seth Koppel of TexHomes Realty were the listing agents. Ellen Hack of Engel Volkers Austin represented the buyer.

Tomlinson, 36, played 11 seasons in the NFL for the Chargers and New York Jets, earning most valuable player honors in 2006. The retired tailback ranks fifth all time in career rushing yards (13,684), and his 145 rushing touchdowns are second only to Emmitt Smith's career mark of 164.

Now an analyst on the NFL network, Tomlinson has been operating in sell-mode as of late. In addition to the Lake Travis property, the three-time All-Pro last summer sold his 13-acre estate in Poway, Calif., for $3.495 million.
