Chargers get help on the offensive line in latest CBS Mock Draft

The Chargers are likely to bring in competition along the offensive line. How much and how early in the draft are both good questions. In the latest mock draft from CBS, they address right tackle with the first pick. Andre Dillard of Washington State is the hypothetical selection in this draft. Here’s what CBS had to say about him:

Dillard had a strong Senior Bowl week and scouts love his footwork. And since Philip Rivers might just play forever, the Chargers will need to protect him.

We have brought up Dillard plenty of times on this site. Whether Dillard being a potential prospect. Or his actual scouting report. Dillard was at the Senior Bowl, and the Chargers have made no secrets to favoring players that have experience in the game. Dillard was also first team Pac-12 and an All-American.

Dillard would be a superior pass protector to Sam Tevi. That alone would go along way. They might miss Tevi’s run blocking, but they seemed to do a good job of committee by that. Meaning, getting tight ends and backs involved. So that’s not too worrisome. The real question becomes is Dillard going to provide the value you’d like over another player on the board?
