Chargers fill top needs in latest 4-round mock by Draft Wire

Another mock draft that features a bunch of trades by other teams. Another mock draft where the Chargers stay put. In this mock, the Chargers fill some needs. They start with a DT from the national champions. Here’s what was said about Christian Wilkins:

The Bolts have one of the league’s best edge-rushing tandems in Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa, but free agency could end up leaving them with a gaping hole along the interior of their defensive line. A rare athlete for his size, the explosive and disruptive Wilkins would be a fantastic remedy.

We’ve covered Wilkins. Not so sure about using the words “rare” and “explosive” with him. Wilkins is more Brandon Mebane than Corey Liuget. By that I mean style of play. It does feel like an obvious pick to match the team with. In my opinion, the team should look to add a true, natural pass-rusher.

Here’s how the rest of the draft played out:

60. Los Angeles Chargers | David Edwards | OT | Wisconsin

91. Los Angeles Chargers | Terrill Hanks | LB | New Mexico State

123. Los Angeles Chargers | Tyree Jackson | QB | Buffalo

The Chargers get help at tackle and linebacker, before selecting a quarterback. How would you feel about this draft? It seems like for years draft analysts have been pegging a quarterback with the Chargers.
