Chargers expected to have Melvin Gordon, Ingram at minicamp

Despite it being voluntary, many have been questioning running back Melvin Gordon and defensive end Melvin Ingram’s absence from organized team activities. The two are the only players that have not attended, but it appears they will be ready to go for mandatory minicamp next week.

When talking to the media on Monday, coach Anthony Lynn said that he spoke with Gordon on the phone and that the former Wisconsin product told him that he will be there on Monday, June 11. Lynn also jokingly added that he forgot what he looks like since it’s been so long.

Lynn said Ingram also has promised his presence next week. The 6-foot-2 and 265 pound defensive end also has stayed away from the team’s training facility this offseason thus far.

It’s good news to hear that Gordon will be attending mandatory minicamp. There have been some speculating that he would holdout since he’s in his contract year and is hoping for a big extension, similar to Le’Veon Bell last year with the Steelers.

General manager Tom Telesco has said the team intends to extend Gordon’s contract, but he added there is no timetable on when it’ll be done.
