Chargers claim TE Andrew Vollert

The Chargers continue to add to their tight end room. Los Angeles claimed TE Andrew Vollert off waivers on Thursday, a day after he was let go by the Bengals, the team announced.

Prior to the claiming of Vollert, the Bolts had six tight ends on the offseason roster. He joins a group led by the duo of Hunter Henry and Virgil Green, along with Sean Culkin, Vince Mayle and two first-year players, Matt Sokol and Daniel Helm.

Vollert signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Weber State in 2018 and spent a couple of months on their practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster in September. He closed out the year on Cincinnati’s practice squad.

Vollert brought in 61 passes for 773 yards and five touchdowns during his senior year in 2017. In 2016, he caught 62 passes for 840 yards and seven touchdowns.
