Chargers’ Anthony Lynn content with offensive tackle position

The offensive tackle position is arguably the biggest need for the Chargers this offseason. But for coach Anthony Lynn, he begs to differ.

Lynn said that Los Angeles is ‘good’ at the tackle spots with Russell Okung and Sam Tevi, according to ESPN’s Eric D. Williams.

The problem lies on the right side primarily with Tevi, who went through a sophomore slump when given the starting job. Tevi allowed 41 hurries, 12 hits and eight sacks across his 483 pass-blocking snaps, good for a mark of 92.9, according to Pro Football Focus.

The struggles were week in and week out, which were enough to consideration for a new starting right tackle once the offseason came around.

Many thought that 2017 second round selection Forrest Lamp would’ve been able to get a chance at the spot after returning from an ACL injury suffered during his rookie campaign, though he was drafted to play inside at guard. But Los Angeles elected to keep him from the field.

Lynn also have an update on Lamp, stating he will have every opportunity to start at guard in 2019, but they want to develop his versatility.

From Lynn’s comments, it doesn’t sound quite promising for a team that needs to get better along the offensive line. But then again, this is considered lying season, so taking one with the first round selection is not out of the picture whatsoever.
