Chargers’ Anthony Lynn confident in Ty Long if Mike Badgley can’t play vs. Texans

Chargers kicker Michael Badgley has yet to play in a 2019 regular season game, as he’s been hampered with a groin injury that he sustained days before the opener against the Colts.

Badgley’s status for Week 3 against the Texans remains to be seen. He was a full participant in practice on Thursday, but nagging pains from the injury can arise at any given moment.

Many are wondering if they will have the former Miami product back this weekend after last Sunday’s kicking woes against the Lions.

Ty Long, who was perfect in Week 1, missed both of his field goals, which would’ve been the difference between winning and losing the game.

While some questioned the decision to have Long do the kicking duties to begin with, now they are really curious to see if the team is going to do a last minute signing so that way the same episode doesn’t occur if Badgley can’t play.

But coach Anthony Lynn is confident in Long to bounce back if he needs to be called upon again.

“We’ll go with Ty [Long]. We got a lot of confidence in Ty…It (missing kicks) happens. Ty’s very confident. We’re confident in Ty. If we have to kick him again, we’ll do it,” Lynn said, per the team’s official website.
