Chargers’ Andre Patton lands on PFF’s Team of the Week

Chargers wide receiver Andre Patton earned a nod from Pro Football Focus following the team’s 19-17 loss to the Saints.

PFF stamped Patton in their Team of the Week following the second week of the 2019 NFL preseason. Patton earned an overall grade of 91.5.

Here’s what PFF had to say about Patton’s showing on Sunday:

Patton was one of the most efficient receivers in the league this week, catching all four passes thrown his way for 62 yards and a touchdown. He averaged 4.77 yards per route run in the game against the Saints, the highest mark among receivers who ran more than 10 routes in Week 2 of the preseason.

Patton had the best offensive performance by any player this past weekend. He posted four receptions for 64 yards, along with the only receiving touchdown on the afternoon.

On the play, Patton beat the jam by Saints cornerback P.J. Williams, and he was able to get behind him for the easy 24-yard touchdown from quarterback Cardale Jones.

Patton’s performance helped him get a leg up in the wide receiver competition. It’s going to come down to the wire to determine who makes the 53-man roster, but if continues to play like that the next two weeks then he should be a lock.
