A man has pleaded guilty to a range of charges - and he remains in custody - after he threatened staff with a blood-filled syringe at a Hunter hospital this week.
Luke Benjamin Daley was taken to Maitland Hospital about 4.30pm on Monday for medical treatment, when he became aggressive towards staff.
Police allege the security officers at the hospital told the 32-year-old to leave the premises, before they ultimately removed him from the property on High Street.
But the man re-entered the hospital a short time later and threatened security staff and a nurse with a blood-filled syringe - he dropped the syringe and continued verbally threatening staff until police arrived at the scene.
He was arrested following a brief struggle and was taken to Maitland Police Station, where he was charged.
In Maitland Local Court on Tuesday, Daley pleaded guilty to four charges of stalk/intimidate, intend fear, physical harm; three counts of being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence and one charge each of behaving in an offensive manner and resisting police.
Magistrate John Chicken refused Daley's application for bail, according to court documents.
The 32-year-old will face Maitland Local Court again on November 16.
