According to the Republicans, no one should be held accountable for their actions, but in the worst-case scenario, if they are found guilty, they should just blame the Democrats.
James Comer, a member of the United States House of Representatives and a long-time Trump supporter, is taking a page from the same rule book and doing exactly what is expected of him. Recently, while talking to the press during the ongoing government shutdown, Comer discussed the Epstein case, as he leads the committee investigating it. He mentioned that Trump’s involvement in it was minimal, but stressed that former US President Bill Clinton had “far closer ties to Epstein”, in an effort to shift blame once again. He said:
“The evidence we gathered does not implicate President Trump in any way. Public reporting, survivor testimony, and official documents show that Bill Clinton had far closer ties to Epstein.”
After videos of Comer making these insensitive remarks started making the rounds on social media, many people called him out. Some pointed out his blatant support for President Trump, suggesting that his unwavering loyalty to the orange dictator had clouded his judgment. Others found it odd that he would shift blame to someone else and phrase his words in a way that seemed to excuse Trump, claiming his involvement was not as significant as Clinton’s. One person, while highlighting how the Republicans were refusing to swear in Adelita Grijalva because she had the last vote to release the Epstein files, said:
“Then swear in the new congresswoman…get that discharge petition passed… and release it all. Not gonna take your word for it Comer, because I’ve seen you in action. Charge EVERYONE involved.”
Another individual echoed similar sentiments and said:
“Who the hell said Bill Clinton was off limits? If he was tied to Epstein, lock his ass up too. Throw him, Melania, and pedophile Trump in the same damn cell and let history rot with them. But don’t play stupid.”
It is safe to say the government under the Trump regime has become a joke, and it will only get worse from here.
