Chapters to reopen on Friday as new owners take over iconic bookstore in Dublin

Chapters bookstore will reopen under new ownership from Friday, after a dramatic announcement from the shop on Tuesday.

The bookstore, located in the heart of Dublin City, was established in 1983, with Wicklow Street, Stephen’s Green, and Abbey Street being former locations, until it made its home at Parnell Street in 2006.

Hundreds of people registered their shock and disappointment when it announced that it would close back in October.

In the time since, thousands of people poured through the doors of the shop, including on it's closing date at the end of January.

But on Tuesday, we got the brilliant news that the shop would be reopening.

The bookstore tweeted: "We just couldn’t let it go! The Gamesworld lads from the back of Chapter’s Middle Abbey St, Kev & Mick are the new owners of Chapters - reopening Friday 11th March!"

All the old staff appear to have been kept on as well, as the shop replied to questions with: "Sara is still the manager and the staff are the same!"

Others took to the replies to celebrate the news.

One person wrote: "I still have a pile of about 50 books from the closing down sale to get through but this is truly EXCELLENT news." while a second said: "Terrific news to have back the best bookstore in town"

Another said: "I am very happy! My bank account? Not so much."
