Chaotic scenes at Storey Arms on Good Friday as police urge drivers not to leave cars on verges

These were the busy scenes at the Storey Arms area on Good Friday.

Police warned that parking was taken early on Friday morning as people made the most of the good weather, and there are not many spaces left.

Cars have been seen parked long both sides of the A470.

The Storey Arms is a regular hotspot for families heading for southern Britain’s highest peak.

Especially when the weather is so good.

But with only around 50 parking spaces at Pont ar Daf car park, just off the A470, the area can quickly become flooded when it comes to parking.

Sergeant Owen Dillon, from the Dyfed Powys Police roads policing unit, said: "Please consider alternative parking, routes and venues.

"Please don’t park on the road observe the clearway and avoid obstruction."

There is often a problem in the area on holidays and cars have been towed away in the past and motorists fined.

When people get to the top of Pen Y Fan, there is another queue to contend with:
