Chaos in Dublin after massive crash on M50 sees all lanes shut

An entire section of the M50 motorway was shut this morning after a massive crash left debris scattered across the major road.

A truck overturned at Junction 9 Northbound at the Red Cow, but the damage done meant that the road was closed all the way back to Junction 11 Tallaght.

The AA say that a number of routes are experiencing delays as a result:

  • Traffic is very heavy from before J12 Firhouse through to J11, where traffic is being diverted via the N81.
  • The on-ramp from the Naas Rd outbound onto the M50 at J9 is also closed, but traffic can join the motorway at J9 via the on-ramp from the N7 inbound.

Garda reduced the road to just one lane at the Red Cow as a result of the incident but it remains closed between Junction 9 and Junction 11.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardai are currently at the scene of a collision at Junction 9 Northbound on the M50.

"A vehicle overturned on the N7 slip road and moved onto the M50.
