Chaos at Leeds station delaying train network

There are no trains running between Manchester and Leeds this morning after a trespassing incident at Leeds Station.

Northern, Transpennine Express, LNER and Cross Country services to and from Leeds have all been affected.

No trains are currently entering or leaving Leeds Station.

Passengers were told the incident was due to 'concerns for someone on a bridge', Leeds Live reports.

Northern Rail tweeted to say that 'all lines' are currently blocked to and from the station.

The disruption is expected to continue until around 12pm.

British Transport Police tweeted that they were 'working with other agencies' to resolve the situation.

At 8.22am, the force posted: "Ongoing incident at Leeds Railway Station at the minute. No trains running at this time. Working with other agencies to resolve this. Thank you for your patience."

The incident is causing delays on TransPennine Express services between Manchester Airport and Newcastle and Manchester Piccadilly and Hull.

Commuters have tweeted videos and pictures showing a busy concourse at Leeds Station due to the incident.

One passenger tweeted: "Avoid Leeds train station"

Trains may be cancelled, delays or revised, National Rail has confirmed.

A statement on the National Rail website said: "A trespasser on the railway at Leeds is causing disruption at this station. Some lines are currently blocked and trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

"Disruption is expected until 12pm."

"Passengers are being urged to check before they travel."
