Chaos at convenience store as man pulls knife in street brawl

A man burst into shop brandishing a knife and began making threats after violence erupted at a Liverpool convenience store.

Police were called to the Kensington shop after reports of fighting.

And the violence spilled out of control with one man clutching a knife entering Sam's Local on the junction of Hawkins Street and A57 Kensington.

Once inside the knifeman started making threats during the frightening scenes on Saturday, December 5.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: " Police were called to a shop on Kensington at around 9.25pm on 5 December where it was reported there had been fighting and that a man had entered the shop making threats while holding a knife."

A man has been charged in connection with the incident.

Jason Franey, 31, of Sutcliffe Street, Kensington was charged with aggravated burglary, blackmail, criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon, possession of a knife/blade in a public place, threatening to damage property and intimidating a witness.

He appeared at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Friday.

Franey was remanded in custody to appear at the same court on Friday, January 8.
