Hundreds of takeaway lovers queued for hours outside their local chippy after it dropped the price of a full fish supper to 45p.
Mother Hubbard's fish and chip shop in Bolton offered the special deal on Saturday to celebrate the opening of its new branch on St Helens Road in Daubhill.
The bargain deal - initially just for the first 1,000 customers - mirrored the price of a meal at the popular takeaway brand when it opened its first shop in Bradford in 1972, reports the Manchester Evening Post.
Delighted locals started queuing down the street from 9am - two hours before the doors even opened.
Head fryer Chris Farnell said by 2pm the shop's 25 staff had served up around 700 portions and were expecting to do at least the same amount again before closing.

He said despite the initial deal, staff were reluctant to see anyone who'd queued missing out, admitting the shop did expect to lose a lot of money.
Chris said: "We say it's for the first 1,000 customers, but we can't have people waiting for ages and missing out.
"It's been hectic and we'll lose quite a bit of money today, but it's great to see so many people here."
Photos show the crowds waiting patiently behind temporary metal railings decorated by black and white balloons - the brand's colours.
Among those in the queue were husband and wife Awais and Natisah Ahmed, who recently moved to the area from Manchester.
Awais, 30, said: "We've been waiting about an hour and half, maybe longer.
"We were going get a portion to share, but we've been here so long I think we'll get one each now, with the full works we're so hungry.
"We've been to the Mother Hubbard's in Blackpool before - they're really good."
The first Mother Hubbard's was opened on May 3, 1972 on Ingleby Road in Bradford by then-Coronation Street stars Stan & Hilda Ogden.
The franchise next has its sights set on London, according to its website.
