Chants of 'Brian Clough' ring around City Ground once more as Nottingham Forest and their fans celebrate legendary manager

Nottingham Forest and their supporters celebrated the life of the legendary Brian Clough at the City Ground on Saturday.

It was 15 years since Clough passed away, aged 69, on the eve of the Reds' Championship clash with Barnsley on home soil.

And the club and its fans paid a special tribute during the first half of the match.

An image of Clough was beamed onto the big screens inside the stadium 15 minutes into the match, prompting supporters to rise to their feet and stage a minute's applause for the man who famously inspired Forest to their two European Cup triumphs during the most successful period in the club's history.

Chants of 'Brian Clough' rang around the stadium and many fans also wore green jumpers made iconic by Clough when he was in the Reds' dugout.

There was also a tribute to Clough on the front cover of the matchday programme.

Reds boss Sabri Lamouchi paid his tribute to Clough ahead of the match.

"What Brian Clough did for this club was fantastic," he said.

“He was fundamental for the club, for the people.

“What he did for the club was fantastic - not only with his achievements, but also because he put Nottingham on the map.”

And club owner Evangelos Marinakis also paid a special tribute.

“When I was a young boy I knew the magic of Brian Clough and how he made Forest winners and famous throughout the world,” he said, through the club’s official Twitter account.

“He is the main reason why I wanted Nottingham Forest.

“I am a strong believer that miracles happen when you have talent, faith, strength and vision. He had them all.

“I am proud to be a part of this magnificent football club because of him.”
