Chantelle Cameron believes she would be 'wasting' her time waiting for Katie Taylor fight

Chantelle Cameron faces Adriana Dos Araujo for the vacant WBC super-lightweight title this weekend and says she took the fight instead of waiting around for Katie Taylor.

The undefeated English boxer is the WBC mandatory challenger at both super-lightweight and lightweight, with Taylor holding the second of those belts.

Cameron believes she would be "wasting" her time waiting by waiting on a bout with the Bray fighter.

She said: "Everybody wants to fight Katie Taylor, and I would have been hanging around waiting for her.

"I'm 29 now and I want my own world titles. It's a short career so I don't want to be wasting my time, especially with everything that has happened this year.

"I've been waiting for this moment since I turned professional and it's amazing, especially as I'll be making my debut as a Matchroom fighter. It's a dream come true.

"I'm good at visualising, so I visualise the fight in my head and I visualise myself lifting the belt. It looks good, I think it will suit me! It would mean the world to me to call myself world champion."

Cameron has previously said she would be "too strong" for Taylor and would take a bout against her on a day's notice.

Predicting a potential fight against the undisputed lightweight champion, Cameron said: "I'm not just saying it because it's me, but I think it would be a good fight.

"It would be a good fight for the fans as well because I think our styles would just be exciting.

"I think I'd be too strong for Katie with my work rate. I feel like I'm very similar to Delfine [Persoon], but I'm a little cuter with my style. I'm a bit more technical and I can actually box.

"People seem to think I'm just a brawler, but I've proven I can box so I feel like I'd be too strong for Katie. My work rate would be too much pressure for her. I'm a better boxer than Delfine and Delfine gave her a massive problem."
