Channing Tatum gives a quick (but exciting) update on ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

The next few years are going to be particularly interesting for Marvel Cinematic Universe fans. In addition to a number of animated and live-action Disney+ shows, we have the franchise’s two biggest movies on the horizon: Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Doomsday has already made a splash before showing the world even a lick of footage, thanks to the now-infamous hours-long livestream announcing some of the film’s massive ensemble cast. One of the names on that gigantic list is Gambit actor Channing Tatum, who will be reprising his long-awaited role from 2023’s Deadpool & Wolverine. And after already speaking about his experience on the movie quite a bit in interviews, he just revealed a small exclusive to us.

While speaking to The Mary Sue about his work in the upcoming movie Roofman, Tatum raised the hype levels for Doomsday with a single sentence: “Trust me, you’re gonna like the Avengers movie.”

Does Tatum’s aside reveal anything about Doomsday? Not particularly. We still know next-to-nothing about its plot, its ramifications going into Secret Wars, and what on Earth Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Doctor Doom is going to be like. But in the long run, does that really matter? As we march closer and closer to the highly-anticipated movie’s release date, more concrete information will surely be brought to light.

Either way, fans are still enamored by the mere concept of the Fantastic Four, the Fox-era X-Men, the New Avengers, and more crossing paths onscreen. It’s the kind of spectacle that Marvel’s comics have delivered time and time again for decades, but has never fully been realized on the big screen in this way. So, as we sit in the waiting period until a Doomsday teaser or poster arrives, even Tatum’s brief endorsement is very encouraging.

Avengers: Doomsday is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on December 18, 2026.
