Channel 5 show spotlights life on board Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Voyages cruise ships

New reality TV show The Cruise will take passengers behind the scenes of Sir Richard Branson's new Virgin Voyages' vessels in a fly-on-the-wall documentary. The series offers a unique insight into the lives of the crew and meets guests - or sailors - on the Scarlet Lady and Valiant Lady ships.

Cameras take viewers inside for an authentic look at the inner workings of operating a 110,000-ton boutique hotel at sea. While stops at the world’s most dazzling coastal locations like Bimini, Ibiza, Marseilles and Cannes provide no shortage of irresistible backdrops. Crew members navigate the world of quirky Sailor requests, last-minute weather challenges and unique milestone celebrations.

Sir Richard Branson told me: "What makes Virgin different to any other company is the brilliant people who work for us – and this is so evident at Virgin Voyages. There’s more than 80 different nationalities working onboard – that’s almost half the world’s countries represented on our ships, all working together and bringing the experience to life with a smile."

Shane Riley, vice-president of International Sales, said: “We’re so excited to give our UK fans a peek into life below deck. It’s rare to see the inner-workings of a cruise ship or to follow the crew beyond sailors’ time on-board. That’s what makes this series so unique and fun to watch.

The UK was the birthplace of the Virgin brand and has played such an integral role for Virgin Voyages. We’ve had tremendous positive feedback from our sailors in the UK, and can’t wait to show audiences what truly goes into delivering an epic experience at sea.”

After launching the brand in 2021, this year has already been a blockbuster year for the line, launching Valiant Lady from the UK and once again from her homeport in Barcelona, opening brand new Terminal V in sunny Miami, and announcing an epic partnership with global icon Jennifer Lopez.

On deck for next year is the launch of two new ships: Resilient Lady, which will sail from Athens, Greece and Brilliant Lady, whose itineraries are yet to be confirmed.
