Channel 5's Bargain Loving Brits in the Sun to feature retired Geordie nurse Susie Brown

Us Geordies all love a bit of sun so it makes sense that one of our own is starring in a show all about life in sunnier climes.

Bargain Loving Brits in the Sun is many people's TV guilty pleasure, with plenty of people tuning into each new episode of the long-running Channel 5 show. While previous series have featured all the fun and frolics of life in Benidorm, the spotlight is turned on the Costa del Sol for the new run of episodes.

The candid but thoroughly entertaining fly-on-the-wall documentary, narrated by Cold Feet star John Thomson, charts the lives of Brits who’ve swapped the damp and grey of the UK for a new cheap as chips life in the sun.

Caravan parks up and down the 100-mile coast-line are bursting at the seams with budget ex-pats blinging up their statics, revamping their RV’s and tucking into tapas on the cheap!

Plus, viewers meet the British business owners putting in the hours to make it, in a region where you can get a three-course meal with vino tinto for less than a tenner. And camera follow the fortunes of new arrivals determined to make a living and forge a new life in our favourite foreign holiday spot.

You can watch a teaser for the third episode of series 5 in the video above and in it you'll see retired Geordie nurse Susie Brown and her hubbie Reg, who aren’t putting their feet up in the sunshine.

Quite the opposite in fact, as they both volunteer seven days a week at a dog shelter in Estepona. And they’ve got their work cut out during the episode, as a litter of ten adorable puppies arrive.

But the first job is a messy one – giving the pups a bath to stop them looking like a dog’s dinner. Cameras follow a day at the shelter, before returning home with Susie and Reg as they chill out and reflect on another drama-filled day helping doggies.

Bargain Loving Brits in the Sun is on Channel 5 at 8pm on Thursday.
