Channel 5 Intruder: The highly-anticipated UK TV show using Dublin locations for a pretend London area

British TV has a brand new mystery drama series which will air this month called Intruder whose trailer dropped this week.

The short but gripping scenes left viewers confused as to where in England the 'London-based' show is filmed.

But surprisingly, majority of Channel 5's new thriller, which follows a couple after a break-in in their home, was filmed in Ireland and mostly in Dublin.

Characters Sam and Rebecca are media professionals who live in a luxurious house by the coast.

They both have skeletons in their closet though and everything comes to the boil when two teens burgle their house - but only one gets out alive.

Rebecca, a journalist with local newspaper 'Becksfield Gazette' and Sam, a presenter for 'London Chat Radio', refuse to tell police what happened and thus begins a four-part banger.

Intruder "is set in a small seaside town in England" but much of the shooting took place across the east coast of north Dublin and in northern Wicklow.

Star Elaine Cassidy told RadioTimes.com: "The weather was amazing. I mean, this is Ireland. It rains all the time. We were there in October/November so we were really fortunate with the weather.

"There was nothing definitive about the time of year it is [in the script], but I don’t think it was supposed to be the height of summer because we’re wearing coats and stuff. So believe it or not, that was Ireland at its best."

Intruder premieres on Channel 5 on Monday April 5 and will air nightly in the same week at 9pm each night.
