Channel 4 staff offered free tour of Leeds to try and 'tempt them away from London'

A Headingley takeaway is offering tours of Leeds with a free kebab to Channel 4 staff to 'tempt them away from London'.

I am Döner founder Paul Baron said he was saddened to hear up to 90 per cent of Channel 4 staff in London could be taking redundancy instead of relocating to the north.

Now he's offering to show staff from the broadcaster around Leeds in a bid to persuade to move with the company.

Paul said: "As well as a purveyor of fine doner kebabs, I like to think of myself as a little bit of a culinary ambassador to the city of Leeds and can’t wait to show them around.

"As well as some amazing places to eat and drink out, it’s worth pointing out that the price of beer can be up to 40 per cent cheaper too, not many £6 pints here!”

Of course, LeedsLive has already proven that Leeds is a far better place to live than the capital.

Any Channel 4 staff that want to take I am Döner up on the offer can email  helloheadingley@iamdoner.co.uk.

Yesterday the Guardian reported that only 20 to 40 staff working for Channel 4 in London will be relocating to Leeds.

Up to 90 per cent of the broadcaster's staff based in the capital are seeking redundancy instead of moving north, it said.

Channel 4 made the decision to move to the city last November, following a lengthy bid process which saw the city battle it out with Manchester and Birmingham.

The broadcaster is set to move into the iconic Majestic building by Leeds train station once its refurbishment is complete.
