Channel 4 Secret Teacher viewers overwhelmed as millionaire expelled from school makes amazing offer to Liverpool pupil

Channel 4 viewers were left in tears after a millionaire who was expelled from school gave a life-changing opportunity to a struggling pupil.

Steven Bartlett has made it in life - at 27-years-old he is the CEO of an award-winning agency, Social Chain.

But he didn't get there with traditional education.

Expelled from school at 15-years-old, Steven has worked his way up the marketing ladder.

He owns over 400 digital communities including leading channels such as Student Problems, Sporf and Love Food, who are able to reach over 10 billion teenagers across social platforms each month.

But in new TV series , Secret Teacher, Steven got a reality check as he went back to the classroom as an undercover support worker at Litherland High.

Leaving his home in New York, he was welcomed at the school gates by head teacher Mr Rodgers who told him: “You will laugh, you will smile, you will cry.”

During his six weeks at the school, Steven met Eloise, whose casual attitude to school hides a difficult past, and Ste who dreams of becoming a millionaire.

He also had to support students with mental health issues and supervise lunch duty.

And at the end of his placement, Steven offered a variety of opportunities to students and staff.

This included getting Eloise a work experience placement at Lady Muck salon in West Derby and a mental health support worker for the staff.

But viewers were overwhelmed as Steven gave Ste the life-changing offer of working six weeks in his New York headquarters.

One said: "I b***** love this #secretteacher programme", followed by a crying emoji.

Rebecca said: "Oh Steve you absolute gem."

And Jon said: "Amazing stuff @stevebartlettsc . Giving back, changing lives, and providing hope."
