Comedian and presenter Sue Perkins is returning to our screens to host a new competition show starring five celebrities, a lot of snow and plenty of competition.

The Greatest Snowman will see a bunch of famous faces head to an Alpine resort to take part in an epic snow sculpture challenge.

Channel 4 has given viewers a sneak preview into the new competition format which showed which celebrities will be taking part and the scale of the sculptures they will need to create.

In the clip it showed the giant blocks of snow and ice that the celeb contestants will have to turn into extraordinary creations, that will then be judged.

Here's everything you need to know about the one-off Channel 4 special

When is The Greatest Snowman on TV?

The Greatest Snowman is a one-off special and will be airing on Channel 4 this Christmas Eve (Friday, December 24) from 8pm.

Who is taking part in the festive special?

The line-up consists of five famous faces, who will be battling it out in an attempt to carve their best snow sculptures and impress the judges, whilst Sue Perkins oversees the competition.

Taking part in the show is:

  • Liam Charles - Former GBBO contestant turned Bake Off: The Professionals presenter
  • Dani Dyer - TV personality and actress
  • Cherry Healey - TV presenter
  • Johnny Vegas - Actor and comedian
  • Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen - Interior designer

In the new trailer, the contestants can be seen in full winter gear - bobble hats and gloves included - as they are presented with their giant blocks of ice and snow, while the snow falls down around them.

Dani Dyer can be heard saying: "There's no instructions!" whilst looking at the giant block in front of her almost double her size.

Meanwhile Johnny Vegas can be seen facing his block shouting: "I'm having the time of my life!"

The celebrities look like they even have the chance to enjoy a Christmas meal, as they pull crackers sat around a table in their festively decorated log cabin.

What is the aim of The Greatest Snowman?

The celebrities will go head-to-head across three challenges where they will have "thousands of tonnes of snow and giant blocks of crystal-clear ice" to work on.

They will be supported by a crew of seasoned sculptors, engineers, and snow builders, as they need to carve and construct structures to impress the three judges.

The final round will be an "ultimate snowy challenge" as the celebs will need to use all the knowledge they have learned in previous rounds to attempt to construct 'The Greatest Snowman'.
