Channel 4's Naked Education: Woman who's 6ft developed eating disorder after being called 'giant' by bullies takes part in confidence-boosting photoshoot

A new Channel 4 show, Naked Education, aims to normalise all body types and break down stereotypes by helping people overcome insecurities about their appearance. Hannah, who is six feet tall, was bullied for her height when she was younger and spent many years battling her body image.

Hannah, who is from Cardiff, appeared on the show to take part in a naked photoshoot and help her confidence. Speaking on Naked Education, she said: "I've always been the tall one, even from a little girl. I've had nicknames like green giant, big bird, you name it, I have heard it."

Becoming emotional she said: "I always looked at my petite friends, I should be like them to be worthy or I should be like them to be attractive. It definitely destroyed my confidence for I felt at school, I always felt the odd one out...the comments were horrendous."

Many of the comments Hannah received included the word "big" leading Hannah to believe she was overweight. She developed an eating disorder and stopped eating when she was 13 and 14. She said: "I just wanted to be smaller. I really just wanted to fit in."

In the programme Hannah met the Naked Brigade, who are people who are totally comfortable in their own skin and being naked, who helped her defy the negativity around her body image. She joins in with a group photoshoot with the Naked Brigade where she wrote the words that her bullies called her on her skin, to "reclaim" and "own" them.

Speaking after the naked photoshoot Hannah said: "I will always remember this experience and remember I can not go on hating myself anymore, it is just not worth it. Life is short, just live your damn life the best you can."

Elsewhere in the show Welsh former Love Islander Dr Alex George talks to teenagers about accepting body hair, including showing them four naked people and their body hair choices, and two women share their postpartum bodies and how they accepted them. Naked Education airs on Tuesday, April 4 at 8pm on Channel 4.
