A Place in the Sun host Ben Hillman was left mortified just minutes into the property search during Friday's instalment of the Channel 4 show.
John and Liz, who met around five years ago, were looking for somewhere to retire in Gran Canaria. With a budget of £140,000 they were looking for a holiday home that could one day become their forever home in the town of Puerto Rico.
They wanted somewhere close to the beach and local amenities with Liz saying she "wouldn't want to feel isolated". They were also hoping to have "lovely views".

Things were off to a bad start for the pair, who own a chip shop in Essex, when they viewed a one-bedroom apartment in Playa del Cura. Liz admitted she was currently living in a caravan, which she said had more space than the apartment.
John said it was "claustrophobic" and felt "more like a holiday let, somewhere you would stay for a week". Liz said it was "very small and enclosed".
Viewers at home also took issue with the size of the property, as well as its "very green" kitchen. Taking to Twitter, Johnny Joseph Boylan said: "Property 1 was a bedsit", Michael said: "My cupboard under the stairs is bigger than that gaff".

Fi said: "Who lives here? The Borrowers???", while Beckie said: "I can't see anything wrong with having your fridge right next to your sofa". Jessica said: "That highlighter green kitchen is vile", and Laura simply said: "Woah, that's green".
