Channel 4 Great British Bake Off: Former winner Peter Sawkins backs Lanarkshire-born Kevin for 2022 win

Week five of the Great British Bake Off is set to land on our screens tonight (October 11).

And it seems as though this week it's all about the sweet treats with dessert week almost upon us.

However as we get closer to crowning the winner of the baking completion show, people have already had their say about who they think should win.

Just recently a survey suggested that 34-year-old Janusz Domagala is set to lift the trophy at the end of the series with 29-year-old Abdul the next in line to win.

And for the last remaining Scot, it seems as though the 33-year-old contestant from Lanarkshire is in seventh place in the list of likely winners.

But one former winner from 2022, Peter Sawkins, has said that he is unsurprisingly backing the Scot all the way in the hopes that he will take home the baking crown.

As well as crowning his favourite, despite admitting that he "loves them all", the baker is known to offer advice to aspiring bakers through celebrity engagement platform, Cameo.

According to the video platform, Peter said: "It’s a fantastic group of bakers this year. If I were to back one of them, I suppose a link in is Kevin, he is our last Scottish baker in the competition this year so maybe I’ll be giving Kevin a bit more of my cheers.”

He also reflects on his own Bake-Off experience and the joy it brought him, sharing his thoughts on this year’s show. Peter says taking part in The Great British Bake Off makes the bakers feel “connected to being a part of this bake-off family, so I want them all to give it their best and do a good job.”
