Channel 4 explains Gogglebox Ellie and Izzi's social distancing after Ofcom complaints

Channel 4 explained Gogglebox's Ellie and Izzi's social distancing after Ofcom complaints were reportedly made.

Many shows have been forced to stop production because of coronavirus, but in March, Channel 4 bosses confirmed that Gogglebox would still be filming.

Izzi had previously been replaced by Ellie's boyfriend, but returned on last week's show.

The sisters were also seen on tonight's episode.

A Gogglebox spokesperson told the Evening Standard: “Most of the families live together but where they don’t, they are complying with PHE [Public Health England] social distancing guidelines.

“Gogglebox will only film with families where it’s safe to do so. The health and safety of our cast and crew is paramount.”

It's been reported that Ofcom received 163 complaints about the sisters and will now assess the episode.

Channel 4 confirmed it will use rigged cameras in the living rooms of its cast members to allow filming to continue.

These measures will also prevent crew members having to enter their homes.
