A special guest presenter appeared on Channel 4 News alongside Jon Snow – a sock puppet – for the benefit of viewers not quite up to speed on the intricacies of the Grant Shapps Wikipedia allegations.
Monkey hears the puppet – only narrowly not convincing enough to be on CBeebies’ Furchester Hotel – was fashioned by the programme’s deputy editor Shaminder Nahal using one of editor Ben de Pear’s smelly old football socks.

Snow told viewers at the end of Tuesday’s programme a sock puppet “is the name given to a fake online identity, which the chairman of the Conservative party denies”.
Snow, not quite as talented as the comedy ventriloquist and his (controversial) dog on Britain’s Got Talent, should probably stick to the day job. Keep socking it to them, Jon.
