Channel 4 delay new porn drama after deeming it 'too x-rated' to air before 10pm

Channel 4 ’s new porn drama Adult Material has been put on hold as it’s far too dirty to air until 10pm.

The new drama was due to air this spring, but because of its X-rated content Channel 4 has decided to move its screening date all the way to autumn.

And the current situation surrounding the pandemic makes it harder the new show to compete with current main runs on BBC and ITV.

The daily Covid-19 updates are racking up a whopping 6.5 million views - meaning people are less likely to tune into the show whilst the news is on.

The series was set to air this spring (Channel 4)

A TV insider told Sun Online: “Channel 4 are incredibly proud of this brave drama and see it as one of the jewels in the crown of its TV shows in 2020. So they want to give it the best chance possible of developing an audience.

“That’s very difficult at 10pm, when people are preoccupied with getting the latest on that day’s events.

“It’s hoped that by waiting until the autumn, there’s a chance that the crisis will have calmed down and people’s viewing habits will return to normal.”

Bosses are committed to airing the show later in the year (Channel 4)

And although the series is set to feature some very graphic images and scenes, Channel 4 bosses said they are still committed to air Adult Material for viewers later on in the year.

Caroline Hollick, head of Channel 4 drama, told Mirror Online: “We’re hugely proud of this bold, funny, ground-breaking drama and will be launching the series later in the year.”

The series features very graphic content (Channel 4)

The C4 drama is set to document the dangers of the adult movie industry as it focuses on exploitation of adult stars.

In fact, the material is so graphic that the series' trailer even comes with a warning message beforehand.
