Channel 4 Celebrity Bake Off viewers distracted as they fail to recognise Inbetweeners star Blake Harrison

The celebrity version of the Great British Bake Off finally returned to screens on Tuesday night and once again it was for a very special cause.

It was the first Stand Up to Cancer episode of the series with Channel 4 viewers urged to donate to the network's joint national fundraising campaign with Cancer Research UK. And the first four stars to enter the famous tent were TV presenter Emma Willis, actor Blake Harrison, Radio 1 star Clara Amfo and comedian Alex Horne.

The foursome faced a biscuit-themed set of challenges with judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith tasking them with making 18 "highly decorated" animal-shaped biscuits of their choice in the signature, bake 12 maple and pecan madeleines, stylishly dipped in chocolate with a white chocolate feathering for the technical then create a Choux-based showstopper.

But as the celebrities got stuck into their bakes, putting their skills in the kitchen to the test, Celebrity Bake Off viewers were distracted by Blake. The actor is best known for playing Neil in Channel 4 comedy The Inbetweeners and viewers were stunned by his appearance 12 years after the show ended, with some not even recognising him

Blake, now 36, has ditched his fresh-face look from his early acting days and is now sporting a stubbly, greying beard, and a head of curly locks.

@Elimare tweeted: "Did NOT recognise Neil Inbetweeners with grey hair and beard. #GBBO." "Neil from the Inbetweeners has got a grey beard [mind blown emoji]," @tel_e_addict said.

@randomgrubber commented: "Can't believe I only just noticed that's Neil from Inbetweeners, looks so... grown up. #GBBO." "An Inbetweener with a grey beard. That'll make everyone feel old #GBBO," @JamieNews81 added.

Later in the programme, Blake had viewers in stitches when for her showstopper his depicted Prue and Paul wrestling in his MMA-inspired Choux bake.

But it was giving them all the wrong ideas. @hare_tasks tweeted: "BLAKE WHAT IS PAUL DOING TO PRUE #GBBO."

"Blake man that really doesn’t look like Prue and Paul are fighting #GBBO," @JoshuaDFrancis commented.

@BakingwElliott laughed: "What’s Prue doing to Paul on Blake’s cake?! #GBBO."
