Channel 4 boss suggests Big Brother comeback

A Channel 4 boss has sparked excitement among viewers after suggesting Big Brother could make a comeback.

Last year, Channel 5 cancelled the reality television show and its spin-offs after 18 years.

In a statement, they said: "The forthcoming series of Big Brother will be the last - of either celebrity or civilian versions - on Channel 5.

"We’d like to thank Endemol and all of the production team who have worked tirelessly to make the show a success.

"We’d also like to thank our brilliant presenters - Emma on Big Brother and Rylan from Bit on the Side - for their consummate professionalism, Marcus, the voice of Big Brother and all of the housemates who have created so many memorable moments.

"Most importantly, we’d like to thank fans of the show for their support over the last seven years."

However, speaking to Deadline.com , Channel 4's director of programs Ian Katz said he wouldn't rule out a comeback.

Asked if he would revisit Big Brother, he said: "I’d keep an open mind about pretty much any format.

He later added: "One of the things we’ve learned in the last few years is how effectively almost any historic format can be rebooted in really interesting, creative ways."

But a spokesperson for the TV channel said: "There are no plans for Big Brother to return to Channel 4."
