Channel 4 A Place in the Sun's Jasmine Harman 'tested' by buyers

Jasmine Harman felt "tested" by buyers on A Place in the Sun today.

John and Catherine from Yorkshire sold their UK home with hopes of buying a new property in France. With the help of Jasmine the couple headed to Central Loire Valley to find a home with a budget of £100,000 - despite never being in the area before.

They hoped for a property with rooms or outbuildings which they can let to holiday makers, running part of the home as a business. The buyers also wanted a traditional look and a minimum of two bedrooms.

Jasmine said: "Your budget... it's going to be a bit of a test. Could you stretch any further?" They replied: "Slightly" as they added that £130,000 would be the absolute maximum.

Sounding a bit in disbelief Jasmine asked: "£130,000? So would you be happy to do a bit of work to the property?" The couple agreed that a full scale renovation would be off the table but they wouldn't mind having to do a touch of DIY.

In a voiceover, the host admitted: " Finding a home which also gives John and Catherine enough space to let it out is going to be tricky on their budget. But I'm glad that they've got a bit of wiggle room and are happy to visit properties that need a bit of work."

Fans on Twitter agreed with Jasmine that they were asking for a lot for the money. Bob said: "Fully expecting totally unrealistic expectations for budget here. #aplaceinthesun."

Another user said: "£100,000 and needs to generate a Gitte income. Sounds straightforward. #aplaceinthesun." Meanwhile, a third said: "One bedroom for us and one for the five dogs on a 100k budget please. #aplaceinthesun."
