Changing Rooms' Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen slammed for 'funeral parlour' makeover

Changing Rooms tonight saw Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen slammed for a makeover that left a room looking like a “funeral parlour”.

Episode 2 of the Channel 4 reboot saw couple Teresa and Andrew very keen to turn their living room into a cosier living space after years of heading out to the conservatory.

Meanwhile, their friends and neighbours Maria and Nick were equally keen on a major makeover to their living room.

However, after the home of Teresa and Andrew got a makeover, there were mixed reviews for one of Laurence’s choices.

Laurence was keen to turn the living room into a space dubbed ‘Blingissimo’, which showed off a design that reminded Teresa of her own Italian heritage.

However, the use of black in the room did not go down well with Teresa at all.

She commented: “I like the ceiling, I love the sofa and I love the layout…”

Teresa then added after a pause: “Not sure yet, there is a lot of black going around… I’m not a fan of the black curtain...

She then said: "The black reminds me of a funeral parlour…"

However, Andrew added: "You're not touching it, I love it!"

Very awkward!

Thankfully, down the road, Maria and Nick were much happier with their front room.

New designers Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead transformed their space into a design called ‘Less is Amore’, which was inspired by designs from Milan with a vibrant ice-cream striped gelataria vibe.

Maria said: “This is beautiful… There’s a bit of Italy here.”

Naturally viewers at home had their thoughts, with many remarking about the funeral parlour remark.

One person wrote on Twitter : “She’s right. It’s horrible. Black and yellow is very 2015. The black curtains are very Crematorium #ChangingRooms ”.

A different viewer penned: “ FUNERAL PARLOUR #ChangingRooms ”.

Meanwhile, another individual tweeted: “What am I watching. Are they competing for the ugliest??? #ChangingRooms ”.

Elsewhere, one Changing Rooms fan wrote: “Just watching #changingrooms on @Channel4 & keep thinking it’s windup. The absolute migraine-inducing staaate of the rooms that have been made over."

They continued by adding that the couples' "houses have been ruined, trying to put on brave faces & look pleased."

Finally, one Channel 4 viewer concluded: “Jesus is this show for real, both were friggin awful #changingrooms ”.
