Now we know you're already dealing with the loss of Wagner from The X Factor, the last thing you need is for your trusty careers forums to be taken away.
But don't worry too much, we're not taking them away exactly, just moving them to new location. The forum is being moved over to the Careers site so you can get all your job seeking and sector specific advice and debate in one place.
It means all your questions - and the expert and community advice you receive - will sit alongside all of our editorial; which is going to be pretty handy, we think.
From early next week, all the comments and discussions on the forum will be archived and made available here on the editorial site, and the existing forum will be removed.
You'll still be able to comment on all of the archived discussions and posts - the debate and advice will continue, we promise! - but for a while you will not be able to start new ones.
In an attempt to hurdle that temporary problem, we're going create open threads where you can post conversation starters, thoughts and suggestions. But on the bright side, all the ask the expert forums - such as our Job Goddess Clare Whitmell's lively CVs and interviews thread and Nic Paton's essential advice for career changers - will be open for new questions and, of course, the live Q&As will continue.
Plus, to keep disruption to a minimum, the development team will be beavering away over the Christmas period to update the system so that you will be able to start your own threads and discussions.
More excitingly, we're getting shiny new forums in the new year. We'll keep you updated on that.
So, we're sorry for the disruption, it shouldn't last very long at all, and besides there will still be ways and means for you to discuss, seek and find career help, news and debate.
Forum changes FAQs
What will be different about the new forum?
Well, for starters it will be located here on the Careers site and not on a separate URL.
For a small time period, you will not be able to start new discussions. You'll be able to add to existing ones, and bring up new questions and issues in them, though. And we'll run a weekly open thread for those that don't have a dedicated space suitable for their specific question or comment.
It's going to look different. The layout will be more of a blogpost with a comment thread beneath it, rather than the traditional forum look:
What will happen to all the existing threads?
We're moving them over to the Careers site, so you will be able to access all previous discussions there.
Will I have to re-register?
No, as with the old forum, you'll be able to use your existing user name and password to comment on the Careers site 'new-look' forum. And, now, all your comments will appear in your user profile.
What should I do if I want to post a question on a new topic?
For the time being you will not be able to start a new discussion. However, please do raise new issues in existing threads, the ask the expert sections or in the weekly open threads that we'll be providing while the new system is developed.
When will I be able to start new discussions again?
Unlike, Wills and Kate, we don't want to commit to a specific date. However we're aiming to get that up and running for the new year.
What if I've bookmarked a forum or discussion?
If you have an existing forum bookmarked, you will be automatically redirected to the new location.
