Twitter is urging users to change their passwords after a glitch left log-in details exposed in the company's internal system.
The social media giant said it had no reason to believe the password information ever left Twitter's system or was misused by anyone.
It said the advice to users was "out of an abundance of caution".
"We are very sorry this happened," the company said in a statement.
