Chandrababu Naidu announces sops to attract women, youth and farmers

VIJAYAWADA: Making a strong pitch to regain the power, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu has dolled-out welfare schemes to attract women, youth and farmers.

Naidu has promised to grant Rs 1,500 financial assistance per month to women under Ada Bidda Nidhi once coming to power in 2024 elections. This amounts to Rs.18000 per year and Rs.90000 during 5-year term. He had also announced to give three LPG cylinders per year free of cost.

Naidu had also promised to allow all women free travel in APSRTC buses. Addressing a public meeting at Mahanadu on Sunday, Naidu released party’s first-spell manifesto for the next elections. Manifesto has been titled as Guarantee to Future of AP. “We have taken several aspects into consideration before making the announcements. This is only first spell of Manifesto. We will discuss with people in the coming days and release comprehensive manifesto with more schemes by Dasara,” said Naidu.

Interestingly, Naidu had also promised grant Rs.15000 per child financial assistance under Talli Ki Vandanam scheme on the lines of Amma Vodi scheme of YSRCP. However, Naidu said that they would extend financial assistance to the women without any limit on the number of children while the existing Amma Vodi is being given to only one child. In such case, each mother would get Rs 30,000 if she had two children and Rs 45,000 if they have three children. Significantly, Naidu had also promised to remove the cap on the two children norm to contest the local bodies’ elections.

“We will bring a new legislation to remove the restriction of two children norm to contest the local bodies elections. This restriction was brought by TDP, but we have realized that it is hampering to the interests of the weaker sections and also the state. So, we will repeal the Act,” promised Naidu.

Naidu had apparently taken a cue from the Congress party’s success in the recent Karnataka elections as it promised several sops with women centric.

Naidu announced to grant Rs.3000 per month unemployed assistance to all the unemployed youth in the state. He said that TDP would grant Rs.20000 per year to the farmers under Annadata scheme.

He said that they would give drinking water connections to all the house-holds in a fixed time frame. He said that they would make a new legislation for the protection of rights of the Backward Classes (BCs). Naidu announced a new scheme to make Poor to Rich and explained that they would take the support of the wealthy people to adopt the poor to make them rich.
