West Australian artist Alistair Rowe completed a residency in Dehli in 2014, where he spent eight weeks in Chandni Chowk, one of the city’s oldest, biggest and busiest bazaars.
His exhibition One Altered Move was inspired by the market’s sprawling network of narrow laneways and heritage, reminiscent of the 17th century Mughal capital. Rowe’s sculptural works combine the the bazaar’s improved and informal building methods with complex geometries, characteristic of Mughal architecture.
