Chandigarh: PGI team takes samples; 10 more diarrhoea cases

MOHALI: A team of PGI’s microbiology department took samples of water and stool of patients infected with cholera and diarrhoea at Peer Muchalla on Thursday.

“Under the supervision of Dr Neelam, the team collected the samples. PGI has one of the best testing equipment at the microbiology laboratory. As the cases of cholera are being reported from many places, the department is collecting samples for testing so that remedial measures can be suggested,” said microbiology department head Dr Arunalok Chakraborty.

The team went to houses in Peer Muchalla and CHC, Dhakoli, to meet patients and take samples. Dr Adarshpal Kaur, civil surgeon, Mohali, said 10 more diarrhoea cases were reported from Peer Muchalla on Thursday.

To date, 292 diarrhea cases have been reported from the area.
