Chandigarh Housing Board's need based changes panel may give report today

CHANDIGARH: After the directions of the UT adviser Dharam Pal, the committee set up by the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) for need-based changes is likely to submit its report on Tuesday.

In March, the adviser had asked panel members to submit the report, including recommendations, before the next board meeting of the CHB.

Last year on September 8, the committee under the chairmanship of CHB secretary was formed to regularise building violations in dwelling units on Delhi pattern of one-time settlement. The decision was taken in a board of directors meeting of the CHB under the chairmanship of Pal, who is also the chairman of the board.

The committee has members of departments of the UT. It was decided during the process, the committee may consult nominated members of the board, RWAs and other stakeholders for some innovative solutions. The report of the committee would be placed before the board for consideration and decision.

On January 29 last year, former UT administrator VP Singh Badnore had directed the CHB to examine the demand of residents for one-time regularisation of additional construction on the Delhi pattern. CHB allottees claim relaxation based on the Delhi pattern was a complete solution to the complicated need-based changes done by them and it was implemented in 1999 in the national capital.

Recently, the CHB had extended deadline for regularisation of need-based changes till September-end.
