CHANDIGARH: The monthly general house meeting of the Chandigarh municipal corporation will be held on June 30, Thursday, while the Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) meeting has been scheduled for June 27, Monday. Both the dates were finalised by mayor Sarbjit Kaur.
Letters have been sent to all the departments and wings of the civic body authority asking them to submit their agendas to the agenda branch of the authority for their consideration during the meetings. “The authority is preparing for the meetings. The agenda for both will be finalised in a few days and sent to the municipal councillors as well as officers concerned well on time. It seems that as before, most agenda items will be about development work related to the engineering department in different parts of the city,” sources said.
The meetings will be crucial, considering that both Congress and AAP are targeting the BJP on multiple issues like water tariff hike, property tax etc. The agenda will be approved by the mayor in consultation with the MC commissioner. Sources said since MC sub-committees are yet to be constituted, almost all agenda items related to these will come up for detailed discussion and approval in the F&CC meeting. “Since the sub-committee agenda have less financial value and in the absence of these committees, the F&CC will take a decision on the agendas after discussion,” sources said.
