CHANDIGARH: With the festival season about to begin in a couple of days, the municipal corporation (MC) has started giving no objection certificates (NOCs) and permission to hold Ramleela and Dussehra.
The civic body has allowed Ramleela and Dussehra programmes at 41 grounds and open spaces falling under it, while the fire and emergency services wing has issued permission to 35 to Ramleela committees for 11 days from Tuesday.
Both the NOCs and permissions for the grounds are subject to the final nod of the deputy commissioner.
“Since the deputy commissioner gives the final permission, all approvals and permissions are subject to his nod. Sub-divisional magistrates and Chandigarh Police are also involved in the exercise. They give their respective permission subject to the DC’s approval. The DC office has already appointed employees for this purpose,” sources in the MC said.
Many Ramleela committees and organisations have started erecting tents and making other arrangements to hold the event. As Ramleelas of some localities were quite popular, sitting arrangements for the public were being made.
