CHANDIGARH: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a recovery official while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 70,000 in Sector 17 on Thursday.
Sources in CBI said, “The accused is Sunil Kumar Tiwari. In his complaint to the bureau, Sumit of Kaithal said he bought some machines and later learned that he paid a much higher amount for these than the original.
For the recovery of money, Sumit filed a case at Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) in Sector 17.” The complainant said Sunil Tiwari demanded Rs 2 lakh for the recovery of money. The deal was later finalised at Rs 70,000 and Sunil called Sumit at DRT with the bribe amount. In the meantime, Sumit apprised the CBI, who nabbed the accused red handed.
